1. Joanne Hynes
I’ve made no secret for my love of Joanne Hynes, particularly her accessories. I’ve acquired two of her collars already and I’m now zoning in on the Marie Antoinette piece – butterflies, crystals and pink sequins. Very girly, very pretty. Guaranteed head-turner.
2. Granby Park
A pop-up community garden, conceived of by the guys behind the Upstart movement, Granby Park is quite possibly one of the most positive things to happen in Dublin. A derelict site near Dominick Street has been transformed into a buzzing space for art, dance, music and food. It runs for four weeks, until September 22 and I’m gonna head down to check out some workshops, some outdoor cinema and some live jazz.
3. Simone Rocha
Ok, I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting married next year or because I love supporting Irish designers or if it’s simply the only thing I can afford from the collection, but this Tinsel Bow and Tulle Veil from Simone Rocha is calling to me. It’s the tough-pretty-girl look, the wronged-princess… Mean Girls meets The Craft.
4. Prism shades
I’m an absolute disaster with sunglasses and go through a pair every two months. Not sure I’ll fare any better with these, but they’re damn fine.
5. Kitsch Ornaments
I am obsessed with stuff. The more clutter the better. I love collecting bric a brac, random ornaments and vintage furniture. I’m currently into up-cycled retro toys. This spray-painted toy horse is first on the list, followed by some plastic flamingos and some ceramic-painted toy soldiers.
