Fashion designer Emma Manley is the woman behind Manley, the sharp, contemporary womenswear line she creates right here in Dublin town.
1. Gig going
I was raging after I missed MS MR at Electric Picnic but I needn’t cry as they’re hitting the Academy in November. Phew!
2. City breaking
Manley in showing at the Capsule trade show in Paris that runs from the 27th to the 29th of September. As a little treat to me after four very long days, I’ve booked my flights home a day after business wraps up. That means a whole day to wander through the winding streets of the Marais, eat tapas at Chez Mariane and perhaps a glass or two of vino rouge under the bright lights of the Eiffel Tower.
3. Culture vulturing
Going to see West Side Story was my first ever trip to the theatre and as a four year old, I didn’t quite get the etiquette. I quickly ditched my seat for the steps at the side of the stage – better view and all that! Apparently the cast were delighted with such an eager audience member. The play is on at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in November and I’ll be there. This time around however, I’ll hang tough in the regular seats.
4. Burger chomping
I’m more than happy with the bun-less burger or a cabbage leaf-encased bit of meat that us gluten free’ers usually get – but let’s get real, getting your chops around an actual bunned burger is a total joy. Thanks Bunsen Burger.
5. Record breaking
Hear those sleigh bells? Don’t freak out, I’m not one of those to be on the Xmas buzz already. Sleigh Bells’ third album is set to launch in less than a month so I’ll be pumping out the teaser track ‘Bitter Rival’ until the rest is available.
