1. Surf’s up
My love for surfing developed after taking some pictures of a friend of mine in Lahinch over a year ago. After that I plucked up the courage to take the plunge and haven’t looked back. I’m hooked! I find it’s the best way to de-stress as it’s all about survival when up against mother nature. You have to pay attention to the environment so there’s no time for other thoughts or worries. My favourite places are my local Inch Beach and Castlegregory; when the conditions are right I drop everything and head west.
2. Poster girl
I love French illustrator-slash-photographer Garance Doré’s blog. She’s no newbie; I’ve followed her witty and original posts for the last few years but I like how she hasn’t changed as her fame has grown. FYI you can buy her iconic illustrations as affordable posters. Pick up one for yourself here.
3. Music mix
I currently love logging onto superstore Colette in Paris as they stream an electric mix of tunes. I’m an oldie at heart and really enjoy listening to records so I’m slowly building up my vinyl collection. Right now I’m listening to Nouvelle Vague a lot; I like upbeat electronic pop/funk and anything bar death mental. I’m playing this track over and over.
4. Cheap eats
Locally I’d recommend a visit to Pay As You Please restaurant in Killarney. Just like it says on the tin, you pay what you feel your eating experience deserves. The food is yummy, it’s quirky and the staff are always pleasant and chirpy.
5. Barca calling
I haven’t been on holiday in years so super excited about the mini break to Barcelona I have coming up. I plan to cram loads in but a trip to the MNAC museum is topping the list. It boasts some amazing modern art and is close to the beautiful Parc de Montjuic which houses the Olympic stadium and has panoramic views of the city. Also Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia church is a must-see. The architecture is just unreal; my top tip is to get your tickets online to save yourself hours of queuing.
