Jo Malone sells luxury, aspirational lifestyle products. The idea, of course, is that if you buy a perfume, candle or home scenter, you’ll be able to attain a piece of the luxe life for yourself. It’s powerful, it’s covetable and we totally buy into it.
The entire Just Like Sunday candle collection
The brand is offering us a chance to create a parallel universe for ourselves again with the January-launching Just Like Sunday candle collection, created by the brand’s style editor Charlotte Stockdale. Designed to take you through your perfect end of week activities – with a candle for each – here’s the blurb:
A pause in the week. To relax in crisp, white sheets, airy with lavender.
“To unwind…and go
wherever the mood takes you.
Out to the garden. Into the greenhouse, twisting tomatoes fresh from the vine. Earthy, leafy and full of sunshine.
A hearty lunch. A breezy walk. Then paradise.
A plate of sweet almond macaroons with a pot of steaming tea. Vanilla-soft and coconut rich. Sleepy by the fire.
Smoky incense curling into the air.
No need to think. Easy… JUST LIKE SUNDAY. “
Oh yeah, this is my Sunday totally! Or: moan at boyfriend from fug of M&S duvet to make me coffee; negotiate the mean streets of Stoneybatter for the papers, catch up on some work, make dinner. Go to bed. Hmm. Not quite the same.
Sweet Almond & Macaroon
BUT! If I had one of the four Just Like Sunday candles, €50 each, then things might magically be totally different. Hey, I’m kidding, but in inimitable Jo Malone fashion, they sound as intriguing as ever:
- Lavender & Lovage is full of the garden bloom with the aniseed tang of lovage along with rosemary and thyme.
- Tomato Leaf sounds like it’ll be one for fans of green scents. This is the one that intrigues me the most: sharp galbanum, artemesia, fruity cassis and moss. Yum!
- Sweet Almond & Macaroon is one for fans of cuddle notes: vanilla, coconut, cherries all make for what I’d imagine will be a confection of a scent.
- Incense & Embers finishes your day of rest with notes of pepper, vetiver, amber and silver fir.
So, what do we think? One you’ll look forward to trying?
