Ok, so Revlon has been here before with scented nail varnish. But the Parfumerie collection, a 20-strong edit launching in March for €9.15 a bottle, is a little different.

For starts, it’s broken into three scent families, so we’ve got fruit and floral (exotic, fruity notes), sweet and spice (warm, woody scents) and fresh (crisp, clean accords). Each matches a mood: fresh bottles up light and airy shades while sweet and spice is, yup, you’ve guessed it, infused into the bedroom drama colours.

Ok. Elephant in the room aside – because no one needs their nails to smell of anything really and while the perfumes may well be great (I haven’t had a sniff yet) this is in essence a marketing trick to move paint onto talons – these actually look lovely.

The shade edit is good, there are loads of colours, the price-point ain’t bad – 85c under a tenner’s more than affordable for most – and there are a decent array of finishes from shimmers to cremes and metallics. It’s ticking all the boxes for a nail fan.
