It’s AW14 fashion month: George Hook’s clearly aware, stylishly sneaking a plump mustard bow tie onto set during Saturday’s Six Nations commentary session on RTE. Shane Horgan was in the ha’penny place with his boring black tie; Brent Pope wasn’t even at the party: all eyes were on George as the fat fabric held up his chins while they quivered indignantly as oddly-enunciated points about men with odd-shaped balls were made.

As a way of getting all the attention focused on him, the bow tie was a fashion-based masterstroke. As an accessory, it was a bold move too. Just not quite sure mustard’s your colour, George.
