Ask Twitter what its favourite eyeshadows are – inserting a couple of caveats like they’ve gotta be singles and not from a palette – and you know the results are gonna be interesting.
Tweets came thick and fast with lots of old faves like Mac’s Wedge and Satin Taupe as well as lots of newbies – you lot love your Chanel Illusion d’Ombres – and I was interested to see the shade mix as well.
So let’s check ’em out: here are the stars of your lids, as voted by Frillseeker’s Twitter followers. Enjoy!
Hands up who doesn't love a browny/beigey/olivey shade? Yup, no one. This one was the most popular, unsurprisingly. Mac scored strongly here and here's what you love: @emeraldeyliner's a devoted Mac Satin Taupe fan, while @siuners tipped the nod to Woodwinked - good for blue and green eyes, apparently. @ymagner loves Mulch and @regdoran won't be without Sumptuous Olive. Breaking the Mac mould, @itscherrysue voted for Chanel Illusion d'Ombre Eyeshadow in Ébloui. Got any faves here?
Depending on your skintone and eye colour, pink and burgundy tones can be a winner and they're particularly hot on blondes. Guess that's why so many of your Tweeted us recommendations so, eh? @claireskane says of Mac's Blackberry, "love it so very much," and @itscherrysue feels the same about Giorgio Armani Armani Eyes to Kill in 27. Then there were votes for Clinique's Strawberry Fudge - technically cheating as it's part of a duo, but @toomanymuffins says "but I ADORE the pink!" - so we'll let her away with it. @ymagner voted for Chanel Illusion d'Ombre in Illusoire and @3imear rounded out this shade's choices with Mac's Satellite Dreams.
Taupe, grey and greige have got to be some of the most popular and flattering shadow shades in existence. No wonder so many of you rate 'em. @montyc is all over Chanel Ombre Essentielle in Fauve while lots of you voted for Nars Lhasa, including @niamhckeogh. "Mac Smoke and Diamonds smooshed it into a billion pieces, waah," recommended @lainey316 while @ymagner's all about Mac Silver Ring.
Everyone needs a neutral shadow shade: Fact. To blend other colours into each other, to use as a base shade or for use just on those days when you don't feel like doing very much. Here's what you lot like. @mybeautynotes loves Stila's Kitten (hey, who doesn't?), @susaneconley's a fan of Bobbi Brown Bone (us too! Us too!) and Mac's Wedge gets the nod from the gals @VivaAdonis.
