Never one to shy away from a bit of colour, Lily Allen made sure all eyes were on her last week at the NME Awards when she stepped out in a bright Roksanda Ilincic shift dress, complete with furry blue and green jacket, dramatic eyes and blue streaks in her hair. Over all there was a lot going on with her look, which may not be for everyone, so I’ve isolated my favourite bit; the makeup.
The double liner look is a key trend for this season having been seen on numerous runways including Chanel couture 2014, from which (as a brand ambassador) Lily’s look draws inspiration.
This makeup is all about eyes but for them to be the focus we’ll have to start with clear, glowing skin. Rather than going for a heavy foundation, try a lighter one as your overall base, building up coverage by lightly brushing on a high-pigment concealer such as Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage on any areas that really need it. Use a little powder on eyelids and t-zone to keep shine at bay and avoid smudging.
You can copycat Lily’s eye makeup in lighting speed using just three products : Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in Eternal Silver, Butter London Wink Eyeliner in Union Jack Black and Katy Perry Oh Honey Lashes from Eylure.
Start with the black liner on top using a cotton bud (the ones from Muji are my favourite) to correct any unevenness and give a clean finish to your flick – then apply the silver underneath. Finish off your look with lashes and a glittery lip gloss and you’re good to go!
