3 coral blushers from Tom Ford, Bourjois and YSL

I have a serious and profound soft spot for coral and orange-toned blush and I’mma tell you why.

This shade pretty much suits most – pink can be a bit warm for a rosy-cheeked cailin – and there’s something about peaches that just works. I think it works on a CC principle: yellow tones in the shade help tamp down redness, so they seem to be particularly flattering for us Celtic types. I’m definitely prone to a bit of redness which can flare and I never like how I look in photos where I’m wearing rose colours.

So I gravitate towards coral. I’ve a hape of ’em as well, but these three are getting used a lot at the moment. Here’s why I like them.

I suspect YSL’s Baby Doll Kiss and Blush, €30, are a little gimmicky (lip longevity is practically null) but THAT PACKAGING. I’d forgive it anything really, for how cute looking they are. Launching nationwide in May, they’re exclusive at Brown Thomas from today. For cheeks this is fine. It looks extremely pretty on the lips but it’s gone in 60 seconds. {FILM REFERENCE KLAXON} The shade is adorbs and exactly what I like and the rich creamy consistency can be painted on from the applicator or dabbed on with fingers and easily blended. It’s hard to go too heavy-handed with this particular shade in any case, but as for whether you needs this as an essential in your life? I rather think you don’t, but … PACKAGING.

I’ve been using Bourjois’ awesome Cream Blush in Nude Velvet (01), €10.49, since launch last year. This is still my first pot; this stuff is like the Tardis of blushers {TV REFERENCE KLAXON}. You can use a brush or fingers, this applies well over cream or powder and delivers a real super-natural looking cream-to-powder finish. I’m still mad about it and that’s rare. Excellent price too.

YSL Babydoll Kiss and Blush in Corail Affranchi, Bourjois Cream Blush in Nude Velvet and Tom Ford Cheek Colour in Flush.

Tom Ford’s Cheek Colours, €65, are absolutely 100% worth if if you have the cash. Flush is BRITE, Love Lust is also beautiful – it’s Nars Orgasm-alike – but I’ve had two of them now and both have shattered. Misery!. {FILM REFERENCE KLAXON}. Flush is a loud orange that the pale have to apply exceedingly sparingly but if you get the ratio right, it looks awesome. If you’re sallower or black, you can go to town with this shade, it’s extremely versatile. There’s very little shimmer here either, except for a fine veil of micronised gold, so the effect is soft on the skin. All-in-all, a beautiful product.

Love coral? Yet to turn your cheek to it? Lemme know in a comment, y’all.
