There’s honestly a rare thing I enjoy more than a really decent Bobbi Brown launch. And ok, while I haven’t seen the Surf and Sand collection with my very own human eyes (or had a sneaky swatch) in pictures it looks very good indeed.
Landing on counter in July, most of the collection is limited edition, including two shadow palettes, two lovely-looking brightening blushes, four sheer lip colours and a couple of new and staying put eye pencil-ish offers. Let’s take a look.
This is an absolute stunner; it’s the Sand Eye Palette, it’s €58, and it contains a mix of eight neutral shadow shades in matte, metallic and sparkle finishes. Some already exist and three are new and exclusive to the palette like that copper, bottom left, and the pinkish shade top right.
If colour’s more your thing, then the Surf palette, also €58, might be more up your street. Six new shades and two existing make up this feller, so if newness is your thing, then this is the one for you. Again, a mix of matte, metallic and sparkle finishes.
I’m very taken with this pair of pretties: they’re Brightening Blush in Bronze and Pink, and they’re €43 each. Deviating from the chequered offer of the usual Brightening Blush and venturing more into Shimmer Brick territory, they’re only lightly pearlised as opposed to super-shimmery.
Four of these nourishing fellers will also be incoming. €26’s the damage for the hydrating formula and veil of colour. Shades are Sunlit Pink, Summer Nude, Peach Sorbet and Pink Taffy.
Both of these are new to the core collection, so will remain on counter once Surf and Sand sells out. There’s a Long-wear eye pencil in Bronze (it will also come in Black Chocolate) for €23.50, as well as one of the very nice to use Long-wear Cream Shadow Sticks in 24 Karat, €30.
So, that’s the Surf and Sand collection and here’s the model shot, as posed by Kate Upton. I’m still not convinced by her as a face of this brand, but the makeup looks nice (if not a liiiiitle too digitally smoothed) on her.
What do you think of the collection? One to check out on counter, or one to pass up?
